HOME

Declan welcomed his sister Terefech along with Mom and Dad at the Charlotte airport on Saturday May 15, 2010. All is going well now that they are on USA soil.

Richard and Karen are now in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia in the first giant step to bring Terefech home. We know that she has been loved and well cared for at here present home. She is now an important part of a wonderful American family and will have an older brother to be her closest friend.

They will be back home on 14 May.

Fame for family member Jamie!!!!!

Jamie Gerhardt is crowned Miss Placentia 2010 at Valencia High School Saturday night. Miss Placentia 2009, Jordan Krinke does the honor. from http://www.ocregister.com/news/miss-229551-linda-yorba.html .

Wow! I hope Jamie will let us say, "I knew Jamie when she was not a celebrity." I know Jamie is just terrific by nature, but I know her family's love, encouragement, and support add emensely to the formula for success.

Miss Placentia, Miss Yorba Linda crowned

Both women live in Yorba Linda, though Gerhardt attends school in Placentia. The pageant happened Saturday night in the Valencia High School auditorium.
"It feels amazing, especially being here in my home high school," said Gerhardt on her win. "I'm totally looking forward to being more involved in the community this year."
Mukhopadhyay was similarly excited with her win.
"I'm ecstatic to be chosen as Miss Yorba Linda," she said. "I'm actually a substitute teacher in the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District, so I'm looking to get my students involved in some of the programs and community service."
In addition to advancing to the state competition, Miss Placentia and Miss Yorba Linda will be expected to serve a public relations function for their respective communities and appear at numerous community and civic events.
Gerhardt was Placentia's Outstanding Teen 2009 in the counterpart pageant for younger women.
Both women performed dances for the talent section of the competition – the portion of the show worth a large percentage of points.
Gerhardt did a ballet dance, while Mukhopadhyay performed a traditional type of folk dance from India.
Other displays of talent included singing, art, gymnastics and fashion and graphic design.
The pageant theme was based on the movie "Fame," an 2009 film re-make of the 1980 musical, which centered on students from the New York Academy of the Performing Arts.

Jamie's Pageant

AREN'T GRANDCHILDREN WONDERFUL? We enjoyed our trip to Fresno, for Jamie's pageant very much. All the young women were great. Jamie was the greatest!! She's not a little girl anymore. Just our little girl.
